Article II of the ND Constitution titled “Powers Reserved to the People” preserves our freedom; the freedom to make decisions that affect our lives. But some politicians are trying to steal that power away from North Dakota citizens with Measure 2.

Measure 2 would end majority rule and shreds our fundamental freedoms by undermining the sacred principle of one person, one vote — and requiring us to vote twice for our vote to count.

Measure 2 would permanently change our state Constitution. Don’t let politicians take away our freedom to decide what happens here.

Politicians wrote the ballot to be deliberately confusing to trick you into giving up your rights, end majority rule, and require that you vote twice for the same law.

Reasons to Oppose Measure 2

  • Measure 2 is a permanent constitutional amendment that will take rights and power away from citizens of North Dakota and give it to politicians.

  • Career politicians wrote the ballot to be deliberately confusing to trick you into surrendering your rights to decide what happens in North Dakota. One thing’s clear: Measure 2 means less power for you and more for politicians.

  • Measure 2 permanently rewrites our Constitution to change our elections. It would require you to vote twice for the exact same thing, for your vote to count. Otherwise, it is effectively thrown out.

  • Measure 2 sets a double standard; one set of rules for politicians and another for you. Some politicians wrote Measure 2 to try to trick you into giving up your rights. Permanently changing our Constitution to require North Dakotans to vote twice to pass a citizen ballot measure, but only once for ones they write. Measure 2 takes power from North Dakotans and gives it to politicians.

  • If the politicians and special interests pushing this amendment cared about the Constitution, they would leave it alone. Instead, they’re trying to trick you into permanently shredding our constitution to give up your own rights and undermine the sacred principle of one person one vote.
